Psychotherapeutic Interventions for Work-Related Stress: Pathways to Well-Being in the Modern Workplace
摘要
Work-related stress refers to the response individuals may experience when workplace demands and expectations exceed their perceived abilities and resources, making them difficult to manage. It has emerged as a global concern with significant consequences for individual health, organizational environment, and societal well-being. In today’s context, evolving work models such as remote, hybrid, and flexible arrangements have further blurred the boundaries between professional and personal life, amplifying stress for many employees. This chapter reviews four categories of psychotherapeutic interventions for managing work-related stress: cognitive-based interventions, mindfulness-based interventions, expressive arts-based therapies, and Employee Assistance Programs. Each of these approaches offers unique benefits within organizational structures. Alongside their potential, this chapter also highlights barriers to implementation of these interventions and some considerations to keep in mind while designing interventions. Overall, this chapter argues for a multi-faceted and justice-oriented approach to workplace well-being, one that integrates evidence-based psychotherapeutic strategies, recognizes diverse coping mechanisms, and positions mental health as both a moral and strategic imperative for organizations. By doing so, organizations can move beyond surface-level branding toward building inclusive systems of care that foster engagement, support, and sustainable growth.
