Application of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System in Precision Farming
摘要
Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) integration has transformed precision farming through heightened efficiency, sustainability, and decision-making. Remote sensing offers useful insights into crop health, soil moisture content, land use, and weather using satellite and UAV data, allowing for near real-time tracking of agricultural operations. GIS enables the management, analysis, and visualization of location-related data, thus optimizing resources and planning. Combined, RS and GIS enhance crop monitoring, allow for early detection of pests and disease, and optimize irrigation systems, eventually raising productivity while reducing environmental footprints. RS and GIS are equally important for soil mapping, yield prediction, and measuring climate change impacts on agriculture. Farmers can minimize chemical inputs, save water, and encourage sustainable practices by embracing RS- and GIS-based approaches. With ongoing development in these technologies, they possess great promise in solving world challenges concerning food security, climate change, and conservation of the environment.
