Faded Persian Gardens; How May Keep Them Alive?

Historic Persian GardenPersian garden (Baqh)Baqh is known as one of the valuable landscape architectural heritagesArchitectural heritage in Iran and probably the world. Many of these gardens do not exist anymore and have faded or been destroyed over time, because of the development of cities, land divisions, ownership loss, or lack of attention; although some of these faded gardens are still alive in the minds and colloquial language of the people and communities. The main objective of this Chapter is to explore ways in which we could keep the faded historic Persian gardensPersian garden alive. Firstly, we will try to categorise gardens by the level of their resiliency and familiarity. For a better understanding of garden conditions, we will introduce some instances in each category. Finally, by looking at the reasons why some are more resilient or familiar than the others, we give recommendations for the most vulnerable group of faded gardens to keep them alive as valuable intangible cultural heritage.
