Traditional Leadership as a Rural Crime Prevention Strategy in Northern KwaZulu-Natal

The chapter highlights the role of traditional leaders (Amakhosi) in rural crime prevention and community safety in Northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It investigates the extent to which Amakhosi understand their responsibilities in these areas. Employing a qualitative research design, the study focuses on three Amakhosi within the Northern KwaZulu-Natal province. This research is significant as it contributes to the understanding of rural crime prevention from an African perspective, offering valuable insights for both crime prevention service providers and Amakhosi in South Africa.
