Mapping the Research Landscape on Accounting Employability Skills: A Bibliometric Analysis
摘要
This bibliometric study offers a comprehensive analysis of accounting employability skills in response to rapid technology adaptation. Using data from the Scopus database and employing VOSViewer and Biblioshiny for network and thematic mapping, this study identifies trends in key publications, influential journals, high-impact studies, and thematic developments from 1989 to early 2025. Findings indicate a significant increase in scholarly interest, especially after 2016, with Accounting Education emerging as the most prolific and most cited journal. Influential studies have explored gaps in graduate skills, curriculum design, technological competencies, and experiential learning. Thematic analysis shows that employability research in accounting is highly interdisciplinary, encompassing pedagogical frameworks, labour market alignment, and the integration of technical and soft skills. This study offers a data-driven overview of accounting employability research, highlighting key sources and themes. The study helps academics, educators and policy makers to align accounting education with industry needs and inform future research.
