Measuring the Attitudes of IT Lecturers at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences Toward the Use of AI in Teaching and Learning

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a developed field where intelligence can be compared to human intelligence, and it has a major impact on the advancement of many scientific, practical, and social fields. This research aims to analyze the current level of IT Lectures’ employment of (AI) applications in teaching at UTAS-Muscat in terms of usage and frequency of usage, to measure their attitudes towards employing AI applications in teaching, and to investigate the differences in terms of to the following variables (gender, specialization, academic qualification, age-group). Structured questionnaire and interview were used for collecting the data required in this research, SPSS tools were used for validation and data analysis. The results showed that there is a prominent level of AI usage among IT lecturers at UTAS-Muscat, and there are no significant differences between the attitudes of IT lecturers towards employing AI applications in teaching due to gender, specialization, academic qualification and age-group. Finally, list of challenges and limitations was listed from the focus-group interview.
