This study examines the development, thematic distribution, and publication characteristics of academic studies on artificial intelligence in the tourism field in Turkey. The study aims to reveal how artificial intelligence is approaching the tourism field by identifying key trends and research focus. Document analysis, a bibliometric content analysis, was used in the study. Data were obtained from the National Academic Database, YÖK Academic. Forty-six articles published between 2018 and 2025 were examined. Publications were evaluated by year, subject title, publication type, index, and journal. Findings were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods. The results indicate a significant increase in the number of publications, especially after 2022. This demonstrates the increasing role of artificial intelligence technologies in the tourism field. The most frequently explored topics were Gastronomy and Food and Beverage and Digitalization and Smart Tourism, while sustainability related research remained limited. Moreover, the dominance of original articles and the balanced distribution between national and international publications demonstrate both the growing academic interest and international visibility of the field. In conclusion, this study contributes to the literature by mapping the current state and research dynamics of AI-focused tourism studies in Türkiye and by identifying potential directions for future research.
