Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) may necessitate surgical intervention for a range of complications. The most common indication is significant coronary artery stenosis, which may be addressed through coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) to mitigate infarct progression and prevent subsequent angina, reinfarction, or mortality. In cases of refractory congestive heart failure or circulatory shock resulting from left and/or right ventricular dysfunction, advanced therapies such as cardiac transplantation, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), or implantation of left and/or right ventricular assist devices (VADs) may be required. Furthermore, AMI can lead to mechanical complications including ischemic mitral regurgitation, papillary muscle rupture, and functional tricuspid regurgitation. Severe, life-threatening complications, such as postinfarction ventricular septal defect, cardiac rupture, and left ventricular aneurysm, may also require urgent surgical management.

摘要
