Using a Virtual Whiteboard for Teaching Mathematics in Face-To-Face Classroom Settings
摘要
eMath4All is an educational platform for mathematics instruction, originally designed for distance learning. It is a comprehensive system, which includes a mathematical editor, a virtual whiteboard, an audio-video communication tool, a virtual library, and an evaluation support module. In the current study, we aim to use the virtual whiteboard component of the platform for teaching mathematics in face-to-face classroom settings. An experimental study was conducted in a middle school in Romania, in order to explore students’ perception on eMath4All whiteboard, its advantages and its impact on learner engagement. Findings from observations and interviews are very encouraging, demonstrating the benefits of using eMath4All as a virtual whiteboard to enhance mathematics instruction in a traditional classroom environment.
