Integrative Review of Nursing Theories: Applications of Meleis’ Transition Theory in Diverse Contexts
摘要
This integrative review examines and reviews the use of Meleis Transition Theory (TT) in various nursing contexts, in particular its use to address health and social transitions. Studies show that TT helps identify facilitators (clear examples include emotional support and family dynamics) and inhibitors (stigma and anxiety) to successful transitions. The successful use in applications such as mastectomy recovery and preterm motherhood, to that of fatherhood role acquisition and adolescent menstruation showed its importance for the holistic holistic nursing intervention. Gaps in standardizing interventions are identified as well as the importance of cultural tailoring to make TT more relevant. TT is framed as improving strategies to educate nurses, interdisciplinary practices and patient centered care frameworks.
