Breaking Barriers, Building Futures: A Mentor’s Story of Impact and Growth
摘要
This chapter traces my journey from a young girl in Selma, Alabama to becoming a respected nurse and a lifelong mentor. Rooted in early experiences of helping others and shaped by the struggles of racism and poverty, my story highlights the role of resilience, education, and the Civil Rights Movement in developing my mentoring identity. Through personal narratives and mentee reflections, the chapter illustrates how authentic mentorship fosters growth, confidence, and transformation. Grounded in empathy and determination, my journey exemplifies how mentoring can be both a personal calling and an effective tool for empowerment and social change.
