Mentoring Human Potential: The Legacy of Dr. Tom Luster
摘要
This chapter describes the mentorship of Dr. Tom Luster, who was a respected scholar in the department of Human Development and Family Studies at Michigan State University. Through personal reflections and storying (Kovack, 2009), I share how his quiet strength, empathy, and academic guidance shaped my journey as an international graduate student. His mentorship extended beyond intellectual growth, fostering confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging. The chapter also explores the often-overlooked influence of mentors’ families and networks, emphasizing the lasting impact of relational and student-centered support in higher education. Dr. Luster’s legacy continues through the scholars he nurtured and the values he instilled in those he mentored.
