Largely, genderGender discriminationDiscrimination builds upon sex discriminationDiscrimination, and for the most part, the discriminationDiscrimination is related to the perceived low status of womenWomen in society. While the neglect of womenWomen is a widespread phenomenon throughout Bangladesh, significant variations in the quality of life of men and womenWomen in different districts of Bangladesh are evident. This is very clearly a major threat to society and modern livelihoodLivelihood patterns. The study is conducted to identify womenWomen’s social status and its consequences in Khulna city in Bangladesh. In the study, primary and secondary data have been collected from questionnaire surveys, and 212 samples have been taken. From the study, it has been found that the most important factors determining a social status while womenWomen are deprived of mental and social rights. The study suggests that the empowermentEmpowerment of womenWomen is a precondition to reducing genderGender discriminationDiscrimination. The first step to empowermentEmpowerment is to ensure access to educationEducation and employment for womenWomen.
