Performance Analysis of Body-Worn Devices in Enhancing Safety for Women
摘要
This project aims to develop a prototype for a women’s alert system to detect and respond to sexual harassment, including physical contact, indecent staring, and inappropriate comments about one’s body. The project addresses three main problems: a lack of official statistics on sexual harassment in Malaysia, a lack of specific placement for the system, and a scarcity of data on women’s heart rate and body temperature. The women’s alert system, designed to collect data on a woman’s heart rate and temperature, would be placed on her wrist or necklace, allowing easy access and easy activation. This small, lightweight device could significantly improve women’s lives by preventing crimes against them. Data is collected from women aged 5 to 80 years, using pulse sensors and DS18B20 waterproof temperature sensors in order to send a quick and discreet alert in case of an emergency or potentially dangerous situation. The results highlight individual variations of inaccurate pulse detection based on age and activity level, emphasizing the importance of correct safety device placement for optimal functionality.
