Transforming Whistleblowing Through Digital Trust: a Comparative Study of South Africa and Switzerland
摘要
This exploratory research investigates digital trust as a framework for whistleblowing, comparing South Africa and Switzerland. Whistleblowing efficacy hinges on trust in political systems, processes, reporting tools, and whistleblower protections. We identify digital trust as transformative for whistleblowing mechanisms across contrasting societal frameworks. The methodology encompasses literature review of digital trust concepts, innovations, and legal frameworks. Preliminary findings show notable differences between South African, Swiss and European Union whistleblowing approaches. This research provides insights for policymakers, technology developers, and civil society organizations to foster secure, trust-based whistleblowing mechanisms.
