The research investigates how artificial intelligence (AI) implementation affects workload distribution and employee performance in workplaces across Jordan. Organizational operations now reflect significant changes in task structures and labor distribution alongside new collaborative dynamics due to the rapid evolution of AI integration. The research uses mixed-methods by integrating quantitative survey data with qualitative interviews across various sectors such as finance, healthcare, education, and information technology. The study examines the effects of artificial intelligence on work nature through a socio-technical systems lens by focusing on task complexity and the level of interdependence between tasks and perceived employee autonomy. The study demonstrates that organizations adopting AI technology experience a strategic reallocation of routine tasks resulting in employees being able to dedicate more time to complex cognitive work and creative activities. The influence of AI on organizational performance depends on how well AI capabilities match existing job functions. Employees who have job responsibilities that work well with AI capabilities show improved performance and greater job satisfaction. The integration of AI transforms internal organizational collaboration which necessitates implementation strategies that are both adaptive and inclusive. This knowledge holds crucial importance for decision makers and business executives who aim to synchronize technology growth with labor force advancement during Jordan’s digital transformation period.
