Characteristics of Argillites from the Kirovskoye Deposit as a Raw Material for the Production of High-Quality Facade Clinker Tiles
摘要
Today the question of supplying ceramic production with quality raw materials is a topical issue. Currently, the main raw materials are cover loams of different genesis. However, their use for the production of facade ceramics is complicated by a number of serious reasons, the significance of which is individualized in each case. In recent years, stone-like clay raw materials such as argillites have attracted great interest. In order to produce competitive products on the construction market it is advantageous to use raw materials of local origin to reduce costs. The article gives a general characterization of argillites of Kirovskoye deposit, studies their chemical and mineral composition, as well as their structural features for the production of high-performance clinker facade tiles. It has been experimentally established that the physical and mechanical properties of the product can be influenced by grain composition and firing temperature. On the basis of grain composition 0–0.16 mm it is possible to produce competitive clinker facade tiles by extrusion molding.
