The study examines the methodologies for the valorization and conservation through innovative design strategies aimed at the typological and functional transformation and metamorphosis of the monumental heritage. The disciplinary and scientific focus of the Project is aimed with respect to the analysis of the paradigms and procedures of integration, hybridization and aggregation for the development of the architectural compounds: in accordance with the principles of the Material Balance theories applied to the combination and “intersection” between the buildings of high historical and artistic value and the architectural integrations in the form of “tectonic shaping” and “heterogeneous/regenerative adaptations”. The Project’s approach considers the criteria of manipulation and grafting aimed at “resemantizing” the monumental heritage through additions (unrelated to the conventional composition logics) that are moulded and metaphorical, diaphragmatic and “incorporeal”, organic and symbiotic (by interacting with the external environment). The study, according to the Material Balance approach (based on the equilibrium, adaptability and sustainability methods), involves the constitutive analysis of the architectural compounds and the proposal of theoretical and operative perspectives related to: the architectural design process, to detect the procedures aimed at revitalizing, expanding and re/formulating the perceptive and performing, typological and functional composition; the engineering design process, to identify the procedures, tools and technical interfaces for the construction planning and methodologies of the architectural integrations; the component design process, to determine the procedures for the topology optimization, custom/standard manufacturing and functioning of the structural, interactive envelope and connective systems.

摘要
