Introduction
摘要
This book explores the multifaceted relationship between migration and European cities. Its two main objectives are to develop a critical understanding of the different interconnections between migration and cities, and to provide readers with a guide to navigating the extensive literature that has examined related aspects. The relationship between migration and cities is deeply implicated in the transformation of contemporary societies, but despite coming under increased scrutiny in recent years, it has not always been the focus of sustained reflection. More often than not, it is evoked indirectly through common motifs such as the globally-networked metropolis and the ‘multi-ethnic’ neighbourhood, the hyper-mobile professional and the low-paid service worker, ‘cultural diversity’ and residential segregation.
