Hidradenitis suppurativa occurs at a higher prevalence in patients with Down syndrome (DS) and at a younger age on average than in the general population. Providers should be aware of the increased risk individuals with DS have to develop HS, as well as the nuances that are important when caring for this patient population. This chapter will discuss the pathophysiology behind DS and co-morbid HS, and how to compassionately and effectively care for these patients. We will also explore specific screening guidelines and treatment considerations pertaining to HS in individuals with DS.
