Surgical Treatment of HS: Energy-Based Devices
摘要
Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is an inflammatory skin disease of the pilosebaceous unit primarily affecting the intertriginous areas that is often refractory to multiple treatment modalities. Emerging evidence for the use of energy-based devices (EBDs) for treatment of HS has shown promise in providing effective options for decreasing disease burden when typical therapy fails. This chapter summarizes the mechanism of action, clinical evidence, indications, and important considerations for several EBDs highlighted in recent literature. While each modality has shown some efficacy, long-pulsed Nd:YAG laser therapy has the strongest evidence as a reliable option for the treatment of HS.
