As we have seen in this study and others, and as we all know from our childhood, textbooks play a crucial role in our lives. They shape historical consciousness and influence societal narratives. It is no coincidence that they emerged in their modern form during the era of nationalism, making decisive contributions to the creation and perpetuation of “imagined communities.” In this sense, we realised that they complemented the map, the anthem, and the flag. They commemorated heroes, created narratives of rise and fall, and sometimes even inflated the weight of traditions and legends. In dialogue with historiography, they were often averse to scientific updating, especially when foundational myths and long-established “truths” were challenged.

摘要
