Investigating the Public Mental Health Implications of Green Infrastructure Through a Neuro-urbanism Approach: An Overview and Bibliometric Analysis

Green infrastructureGreen infrastructure” plays a crucial role in enhancing public mental health by fostering restorative urban environments. This study examines the literature on neuroscientific methods and mobile technologies related to green infrastructureGreen infrastructure” within a neuro-urbanismNeuro-urbanism” framework, with a particular focus on mental health implications. A comprehensive search of 686 peer-reviewed articles from the Web of Science, PubMed, and SCOPUS identified 51 empirical studies published between 2000 and 2025. Analysis using VOS ViewerVOS viewer” uncovered key themes, influential authors, countries, and significant research trends through co-citation analysis, term co-occurrence, and bibliographic coupling. The findings confirm that urban green spaces are essential for mental well-being, supported by neuroscientific evidence, and underscore the need to integrate green infrastructureGreen infrastructure” into urban planning to create healthier, more inclusive, and resilient cities. This review also highlights emerging research directions and methodological advancements, advocating for interdisciplinary collaboration to maximize the mental health benefits of green infrastructureGreen infrastructure” in urban planning and policy.
