Mucinous cystic neoplasms (MCNs) of the liver are extremely rare and account for less than 5% of all liver cysts. MCNs consist of lesions previously designated as biliary cystadenomas (BCAs) and biliary cystadenocarcinomas (BCACs). Often found incidentally, MCNs are usually benign, slow-growing lesions. A small subset of patients may harbor an MCN with malignant potential. In turn, surgical resection is the recommended treatment option for most patients with MCN.

摘要

Mucinous cystic neoplasms (MCNs) of the liver are extremely rare and account for less than 5% of all liver cysts. MCNs consist of lesions previously designated as biliary cystadenomas (BCAs) and biliary cystadenocarcinomas (BCACs). Often found incidentally, MCNs are usually benign, slow-growing lesions. A small subset of patients may harbor an MCN with malignant potential. In turn, surgical resection is the recommended treatment option for most patients with MCN.
