The Edible plant revolution identifies and discusses the renewed global interest in edible plants and their redemptive power to transform diet and food systems. This chapter explores how edible plants which were once staple of human nutrition, are making comeback as a sustainable and culturally important food source. It explores the history of edible plants starting from human diet throughout civilizations and have constructed cultural identity through traditional practices. By revisiting the significance of edible plants, the chapter underscores the capacity for responding to contemporary challenges like food security, health and environmental sustainability. It also highlights the importance of integrating edible plants for transforming modern food system by bridging people, culture and nature more profoundly.
