Education in Post-COVID Neurological Syndrome (PCNS)
摘要
Post-COVID Neurological Syndrome (PCNS) has emerged as a major global health challenge with long-term consequences. As the number of affected individuals grows, so too does the urgency to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills to recognize, diagnose, and manage this complex neurological condition. Education is central to this effort. Without targeted training, patients will continue to experience delayed diagnoses, fragmented care, and misinterpretation of their symptoms. This chapter outlines the educational priorities necessary to address PCNS across diverse healthcare systems. It highlights the urgent need to incorporate PCNS content into undergraduate medical and allied health curricula, postgraduate specialist training, and continuing professional development. Unique challenges exist in both low- and high-income settings, including workforce shortages, lack of clinical awareness, and persistent stigma. Education must also extend beyond hospitals to primary care, public health, and community services. To build a responsive and capable workforce, we must engage multiple universities, medical colleges, public health educators, and frontline clinicians. Cross-disciplinary partnerships are essential. Patients and caregivers must also play an active role in co-designing educational tools that reflect lived reality. Education in PCNS is not optional. It is a critical investment in clinical capacity, compassion, and brain health recovery.
