Despite continuous advancements in prevention and treatment methods, inflammation is still a common clinical problem. The delineation of the site and extent of inflammation is crucial for appropriate clinical management of infection and for monitoring the response to therapy. Imaging is required in a large number of cases for this purpose. With the significant expansion of medical imaging, many modalities have become available for the diagnosis of inflammatory conditions. The choice of modality depends on clinical presentation, pathophysiological changes, and whether localizing signs are present.
