Introduction
摘要
The twentieth century brought the experience of war to its apex. Never before had so many experienced the horrors of war so closely and vividly. Never before had so many paid with their lives, their bodies, and their souls for their nation, nameless foot soldiers sacrificed at the altar of national spirit. The twentieth century also saw a blood oath between death and technology. Not content with the industrialization of death and technology, it made its representations ever near, accessible to all. Never before had the experience of war been, for so many, an intimate companion, a part of everyday life, a televisual image. This book deals with one aspect of the relationship between technology and war; it focuses on the moving image as the primary force shaping the experience of war in the developing consciousness of the Israeli nation.
