Enterprise Blockchain-Based Applications (EBBA) require seamless interaction with diverse blockchain platforms to address the growing heterogeneity of enterprise ecosystems. Traditional development approaches demand deep expertise in blockchain-specific technologies, significantly increasing development complexity, time, and costs. The EDALoCo low-code platform was initially designed to facilitate EBBA development by abstracting the complexities of Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-based blockchains. However, its initial scope limited interoperability, preventing integration with non-EVM networks critical to many enterprise scenarios. This work presents the extension of EDALoCo to enable cross-platform blockchain integration by incorporating Hyperledger Firefly as a middleware abstraction layer. Two new low-code components were developed to support event subscription and smart contract interaction with non-EVM blockchains, substantially enhancing EDALoCo’s versatility. A prototype was implemented and validated using Hyperledger Fabric as the target non-EVM blockchain. The results demonstrate that extending low-code platforms with cross-blockchain capabilities is technically feasible and highly beneficial, paving the way for blockchain-agnostic enterprise solutions that lower development barriers while embracing network heterogeneity.

摘要
