The Importance of Being Well-Adapted: German and US Think Tanks in Distinct Knowledge Regimes

Drawing on the findings of chapter five, in the sixth chapter environmental think tanks in Germany will be compared to their US American counterparts. Differences and similarities will be analyzed at the organizational level but also with regard to their ‘fit in’ in the respective knowledge regimes. The chapter will highlight distinct strategies to exert influence on the political decision-making process and explain the different public profile and impact on public debate of think tanks in the two countries.
