Behind the Screen: Corporate Social Media and Fake Reviews
摘要
Focusing on misinformation, this chapter explores how fake reviews and influencer manipulation distort consumer trust in the age of AI. Drawing from Chinese folklore and real-world data, it reveals how belief on digital platforms is shaped less by truth and more by repetition, often amplified by machine learningMachine learning algorithms that prioritize engagement over accuracy. As AI-generated and incentivized content floods review systems and social feeds, corporate reputations hang in the balance. These intelligent systems, while powerful, can unintentionally reinforce deception by promoting content that appears popular rather than credible. The chapter calls for greater algorithmic accountability, transparency, and ethical design to combat the rise of digital deceit and restore authenticity in consumer feedback.
