Packaging Color Trends in Fast-Moving Consumer Good Industries: Insights from Bandung, Indonesia

This study examines how color trends across various industries correspond to the identified color associations and meanings found in literature. It specifically focuses on investigating packaging color trends within the Fast-moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry to validate the applicability of color choices in industrial packaging design. The study conducted field observations at supermarkets in Bandung to document packaging colors used in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) categories. Colors were categorized into 11 basic color terms, and data on dominant and least used colors were recorded. The findings were compared with documented color associations from literature to assess the alignment between observed color trends and established color meanings across various FMCG categories. This research investigates color trends in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods industry to gain insights into the usability and suitability of industrial packaging applications.
