This study tackles high energy use in aging courtyard-style residences in China’s cold regions, proposing an AI-enhanced renovation framework with XGBoost and energy simulations. Focusing on Tongchuan City, we analyzed 800 design variants, finding that a north-facing window-to-wall ratio of 0.2 cuts heating energy by 28.8%, and a compact layout (floor area ratio ≥2.5) saves 26.5% total energy. The XGBoost model excels in energy prediction, supporting a low-carbon strategy: limit north-facing windows, favor south openings, and cluster courtyards. This approach guides urban renewal for China’s carbon goals while preserving heritage.

摘要
