摘要

In this Lecture we provide the introduction and present the basic ideas concerning the physics of phonons. We discuss the main types and symmetries of the crystalline lattices and the structure of the elementary cellsCellelementary cell. We introduce the notion of the inverse latticeLatticeinverse lattice and explain the adiabaticity principle in the solid-state physicsPhysicssolid-state physicsSolid-state physics. We write down the Hamiltonian for the atomic displacements and the force matrixForceforce matrixMatrixforce matrix in crystal. We derive the equations of motion for the atomic displacements (which describe acoustic and optical phononPhononoptical phonon modes) and reveal the symmetry properties of the phonon spectra.
