Potential Utility of Matchstick Puzzles with Erroneous Solutions
摘要
This last chapter presents basic ideas for possible didactic use of matchstick puzzles with different types of erroneous solutions. As in other mathematical puzzles with erroneous solutions, one important possibility is to give puzzle solvers opportunities to practice and improve their skills of critical and creative thinking in solving unusual tasks related to matchstick puzzles. In the first case, they are asked to find the error, and, in the second case, their task is to propose a correct solution or to pose a new related puzzle. In thinking about such proposals, Braun’s or Katona’s strategies could be helpful. Proposed didactic sequences are structured for use in research, teaching, and home schooling.
