Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a managerial concept that refers to the steps taken by industries and corporations to fulfill societal needs, including healthcare, social welfare initiatives, rural infrastructure development, and addressing environmental concerns. It is a measure to self-regulate dynamic business activities apart from making a positive impact on the environment and local communities. CSR practices encompass improved customer perception of the organization and its products, enhanced employee retention rates, and the attraction of investors and stakeholders to invest multifold. Due to increasing global pressure, industries are shifting towards ISO 14001:2015, a universally accepted framework to organizations for an efficient environmental management system. ISO 14001 encompasses environmental policy declaration, understanding environmental–industry interactions, implementation guidelines, monitoring of process outputs, compliance with regulations, and scope for future improvements. The ISO 26000 standards guide corporations in identifying the significant factors that align with the organization’s mission, vision apart from motivating the industries to analyze the causes and effects on environment due to processes. ISO 59020:2024 outlines the guidelines for organizations to evaluate and assess their performance within circular economy domain. This chapter highlights the strategies from regulatory agencies and ISO standards to effectively implement social welfare and environmental management practices.
