This chapter describes social psychology factors influencing the incidence of depression. Social psychology provides a substantial theoretical framework from which we can build a model to study the interactions of the individual in relation to outcomes related to mental depression. Some theories that will help us to understand depression are social support theory, attribution theory, stressful life events models, and social cognitive theory. We show how social psychology factors interact to describe mental health outcomes by studying the individual in a social context.

摘要

This chapter describes social psychology factors influencing the incidence of depression. Social psychology provides a substantial theoretical framework from which we can build a model to study the interactions of the individual in relation to outcomes related to mental depression. Some theories that will help us to understand depression are social support theory, attribution theory, stressful life events models, and social cognitive theory. We show how social psychology factors interact to describe mental health outcomes by studying the individual in a social context.
