Application of GIS and Remote Sensing in Precision Agriculture System

Geographical Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) have become one of the most versatile tools for collecting, analyzing, storing and retrieving satellite derived agricultural data at high resolution. GIS & RS enables quick and precise monitoring of crop health and development stages and can help leverage productivity at micro level. The application of high-resolution drones has led to precise and accurate mapping of soil conditions and crop health and hence have significantly increased self-reliance in the field of agriculture and farming. The present book chapter provides a detailed overview about various recent geospatial techniques that are finding its application in the field of precision agriculture system.
