A Dynamic Team Semantics for Marked Indefinites
摘要
This contribution presents a dynamic extension of the two-sorted team semantics ( \(\texttt{2TS}\) ) framework developed by [2, 11] to account for the semantic diversity of indefinites cross-linguistically. The goal is to integrate the insights from \(\texttt{2TS}\) regarding the functional uses of indefinites with a dynamic approach that can handle classic phenomena like anaphora and appositive constructions. We show how the notion of post-suppositions in the dynamic system can be used to capture the infelicitous uses of marked indefinites when their enriched meanings are not satisfied. The dynamic framework is then applied to two key phenomena - anaphora and appositive constructions - examining how the interaction between unmarked and marked indefinites affects the availability of discourse referents and the integration of at-issue and non-at-issue content.
