Rheumatoid arthritis is a disabling disease that often involves the elbow joint. It may lead to progressive joint degeneration and arthroscopic management can be an option in the management of this disease, when the elbow is affected. Diagnosis is made by clinical evaluation and radiographs, yet other imaging modalities have their specific benefits. Based on the classification and symptoms, arthroscopic intervention can be a minimally-invasive procedure. Outcomes are good, with less disease activity and pain, whilst the elbow motion increases. Complications, however, are relatively common and should, therefore, be prevented as much as possible.
