The Achilles tendon is a subcutaneous structure covered by skin and with a precarious blood supply. This fact makes surgical procedures on the tendon prone to poor wound healing and wound breakdown. This therefore makes the Achilles tendon ideally suited to endoscopic surgery for rupture, tendinopathy and reconstruction.
