Within the field of pediatric preventive medicine, there are children who fall outside the realm of primordial prevention. These populations have established cardiovascular (CV) risk factors related to a variety of underlying medical diagnoses, including genetic conditions, that place them into the category of primary prevention. The presence of these conditions from a young age contributes to a high lifetime risk of ASCVD. Preventive treatment in these populations aims to treat the CV risk factor, thereby decreasing its subsequent morbidity and mortality later in life.

摘要

Within the field of pediatric preventive medicine, there are children who fall outside the realm of primordial prevention. These populations have established cardiovascular (CV) risk factors related to a variety of underlying medical diagnoses, including genetic conditions, that place them into the category of primary prevention. The presence of these conditions from a young age contributes to a high lifetime risk of ASCVD. Preventive treatment in these populations aims to treat the CV risk factor, thereby decreasing its subsequent morbidity and mortality later in life.
