Leveraging AI for Smart Spiritual Tourism: A Framework for Enhancing Pilgrim Experience and Sustainable Heritage Management in India
摘要
Some of the most famous spiritual places of the world are found in India which hosts millions of pilgrims each year. Nevertheless, a geometric rise in the number of pilgrims has created significant problems, such as overcrowding, lower levels of satisfaction, environmental degradation and inefficient management of infrastructures. The current paper presents an intelligent spiritual tourism model, based on the application of AI, which should optimize the pilgrim experience and guarantee sustainable management of heritage. The framework will integrate the elements of natural language processing (NLP)-enabled multilingual chat-bots, computer vision-based crowd analytics, machine learning-based personalized itinerary generation, and a combination of IoT-based environmental monitoring. A simulation realized on one of the most visited pilgrimage spots in India (Varanasi) showed major decreases in wait time, and satisfaction whilst pilgrimages increased with 0.2 and 1.4 (out of 5), respectively and predictability with footfall forecasting was 92.4%. Also, the levels of environmental stress were lowered because of proactive load management, which transitioned high stress to moderate stress. These findings emphasize that AI has the potential to increase both the levels of visitor experience and operational efficiency simultaneously. The proposed framework will be in tandem with the Smart Cities Mission in India and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which means that it can be used in the scale and replicated elsewhere too as part of faith-based tourism.
