The proposed work deals with the ideation of proposing a distance measure for complex spherical fuzzy sets along with some of their important properties and proof of validity. Further, the newly established distance measure has been utilized particularly in the pattern recognition problem. The steps of the methodology for solving the pattern recognition problem have been illustrated in detail. A numerical example showing the proposed methodology has been presented for better understanding and clarity to the readers. Also, the proposed distance measure has been given with a characteristic comparative analysis available in the literature.
