Abnormalities in prosencephalic formation can be categorised by the agenesis or dysgenesis of the major structures comprising the prosencephalon. These include the optic nerves and chiasm, cerebral cortex, deep grey nuclei corpus callosum and septum pellucidum. Prosencephalic malformations include aprosencephaly, holoprosencephaly, arrhiencehphaly, as well anomalies of the corpus callosum and septum pellucidum, hypothalamic hamartoma, and septo-optic dysplasia.
