Fragility assessment is a critical component of PBEE, offering a probabilistic framework to quantify the vulnerability of structures under seismic loading. In the context of dams, it enables the estimation of damage or failure probabilities based on varying levels of ground motion intensity. This section introduces the methodology for evaluating fragility and highlights how fragility functions provide insight into the expected seismic performance of dam-reservoir-foundation coupled systems.
