Preparing Residents for Fellowship
摘要
Psychiatric subspecialists are an essential part of the mental health work force. While the need for psychiatric care increases in many patient populations, recruitment into subspecialty training programs has not kept pace for a number of reasons. Program directors should keep in mind the wide variety of fellowship opportunities available to their residents and be prepared to assist interested trainees in pursuing programs that suit their interests. This may include guiding residents in their pursuit of fellowship, providing appropriate exposure to various subspecialty areas, and ensuring that residents meet the requirements to apply for fellowship.
