In this article, we look at exit strategies from the cloud from the perspective of financial institutions. Organisations use exit strategies from the cloud to ensure that they can move their functions from one cloud provider to another or on-premises in a timely and efficient manner. We identify the legal framework for exiting the cloud and the technical solutions that should be used. We will highlight the importance of cloud-agnostic architecture and its advantages and disadvantages. We stress the importance of an exit strategy for financial institutions, as it is legally binding and can prevent financial and reputational damage.
