Energy-Efficient Signcryption for IoT and Embedded Devices: A Lightweight Security Framework
摘要
The Internet of Things (IoT) encompasses a vast network of interconnected devices, driving innovation across various sectors but also presenting significant security challenges. This paper addresses these challenges by implementing signcryption, a cryptographic technique that combines digital signatures and encryption into a single efficient step. Traditional security methods, involving separate authentication and encryption processes, often prove too resource-intensive for IoT devices. Through a comprehensive literature review and practical implementation, this paper demonstrates the advantages of signcryption in enhancing communication security and efficiency for IoT devices. Comparative experimental analysis and security analysis confirms that the proposed signcryption scheme reduces computational power consumption compared to an existing method, while maintaining robust security. The evaluation matrices for the proposed signcryption scheme validates improvement in the computational comparisons, shows significant advantages in security and performance over traditional methods, and establish the proposed scheme as a viable solution for the secure communication in IoT ecosystems.
