This chapter explains in detail the difference between qualitative and quantitative social research and outlines its methodological approaches. In particular, it focuses on case reconstruction and analysis of real counseling sequences. This approach also determines the mixed-method design of the subsequent study: after exploring the field of research with the help of qualitative interviews, a questionnaire will be developed to quantitatively verify and continue the results of the qualitative analyses.
